Pakir Singh
is the Chief Executive of the Singapore Hotel
Association and he was the Secretary-General
of the Asean Tourism Association (ASEANTA)
until year 2000. He was instrumental in the
founding of the Singapore Hotel And Tourism
Education Centre (SHATEC) in 1983. Mr Pakir
Singh holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and
a Master of Arts (History) from the National
University of Singapore. He also graduated
with a Bachelor of Law from the University
of London and a Master of Human Resource Development
from George Washington University. He has
had extensive experience(s) in journalism,
marketing and manpower development, which
he brings to bear on his training and education
initiatives. He continues to spearhead activities
that are helping SHATEC to emerge as an effective
human resource provider in the Asia Pacific
Region. Mr Pakir is consultant and project
Leader of systematic HRD efforts in Thailand
(Dusit Thani College), the Philippines (Hotel
and Tourism Institute of the Philippines),
Malaysia (Malaysian Association of Hotels
Training and Education Centre), Indonesia
(Puriwisata Academy), Nepal (Department of
Tourism, Government of Nepal), Mauritius (Hotel
School of Mauritius) and China (Poly Property
Hotel Management).
