Chivas Regal Food & Beverage Manager of the Year
This award seeks to recognise a Food & Beverage Manager who is professional and knowledgeable; possesses a high degree of competence and is directly involved and responsible for at least two outlets and banquet facilities in a hotel environment in Singapore. The nominee must be a Singaporean, Permanent Resident, or a non-Singaporean residing in Singapore. He / she must have been working for a Singapore-based organisation or a franchise / branch that is located in Singapore for at least a minimum of one year (as at the time of nomination).

Cheong Hai Poh

Cheong Hai Poh’s pleasant disposition and attitude of graciousness have brought warm smiles and memorable dining experiences to the guests at Conrad Centennial Singapore. Smoothly cruising his way from humble beginnings to his present repute, Cheong worked at Orchard Hotel as assistant manager, at SHATEC as a training officer, and at Star Cruise Pte Ltd as director of operations and corporate relations. He then sailed on to his current distinction as director of food and beverage at Conrad Centennial Singapore in 1998, even donning a judge’s jacket in the 4th National Skills Competition and the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards in October 2002. His efforts extend to the Food and Beverage Managers’ Association of Singapore (FBMA), where he has been president over the past two years. For his devotion towards the hospitality industry, Cheong is once again nominated as a finalist in this year’s WGS Awards of Excellence.

Gottfried Bogensperger is back for this year’s WGS Awards of Excellence after winning last year’s Chivas Regal ‘Food & Beverage Manager of the Year’ award. After a 14-year long voyage with the Hyatt group, Gottfried Bogensperger has finally reached an acme when he stepped up from the position to fill the shoes of director of food & beverage in 2000. Bogensperger's service excellence derives both from the invaluable experience he has gained over the years and his training at the Chamber of Commerce in Austria, where he attained a Diploma to Run Hotel and Restaurant Business and a Diploma of Studies in Gastronomy. His expertise in the Hyatt group has left a trail in South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico and Singapore. Bogensperger is now responsible for everything that revolves around the day-to-day running of all food and beverage outlets in Grand Hyatt Singapore. His admirable dedication has been recognised and rewarded with the 'Food & Beverage Excellence' title thrice by Hyatt International Corporation.




Robert Lagerwey

As a graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Hotel Management from Hotelschool The Hague, Robert Lagerwey has been a vital cornerstone of Ritz-Carlton's food and beverage department. His career has revolved mainly around Ritz-Carlton since 1997 when he entered Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago as assistant director of food and beverage. His move to the Ritz-Carlton Seoul and finally, Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore saw him take up the role of executive assistant manager in food and beverage. Under his leadership, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago received the 'Grand Award for Wine List', and Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia achieved the James Beard Award and Award of Excellence for Wine List. Lagerwey's crave for greater horizons in the hospitality industry is distinctive with his perseverance to attend courses in leadership and other skills. Lagerwey was nominated as a finalist at last year’s Chivas Regal ‘Food & Beverage Manager of the Year’ award at the WGS Awards of Excellence 2003.
