This award seeks to recognise a culinary institution that provides part/full time courses for the enrichment of knowledge and expertise within the field of the culinary arts. The courses must provide a high standard of learning and must be conducted in a formal learning environment.

The Oriental Thai Cooking School
(Thailand)


Nineteen-year-old The Oriental Thai Cooking School has taught thousands who have passed through its halls the fine art of preparing authentic Thai cuisine. Some of the best chefs in the country organise the classes to cover not only Thai cooking, but her culture and traditions as well. Classes are held six days a week in English at a modern facility, where the setting allows for a maximum of 15 students who receive instructions from highly renowned and talented professionals.

Twenty-nine-year old Shermay Lee may look like any other adult her age but despite her youth, she is the managing director and owner of Shermay’s Cooking School. Located at Chip Bee Gardens, the state-of-the-art school caters to those interested in Peranakan cuisine. Lee conducts the classes herself, with the occasional guest chef in the fullyequipped professional kitchen.
