This award
seeks to recognise a journalist or a group of journalists
who have written an outstanding article, which reflects
and promotes the quality, variety and depth of the wines
and wine trends around the world in the majority of its
editorial content.
The submitted article must be published in any English print or electronic medium for
the first time in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore between
2 November 2003 and 1 November 2004.

Jamie Goode is the creator of wineanorak.com, one of the leading wine websites in the world.
Having worked as a book editor for several years after obtaining his PhD in plant biology, Goode
came to the scene of wine writing and his work has been printed in several publications including
Decanter, Wine International (formerly Wine Magazine), Harpers Wine and Spirit Weekly and the
Western Mail. A member of the Circle of Wine Writers, he was shortlisted for ‘wine writer of the
year’ at the Glenfiddich Food and Drink Awards (for articles in Wine International), and the Prix
du Champagne Lanson (Ivory Award, for wineanorak.com) in 2004.

Johnny Ong, the writer and poet of more than 100 children’s books has won many literary prizes
since the tender age of twelve. As chief and consulting editor of World Asia Publishing’s publications
and a renowned food and wine columnist (Italian wine competition), he was awarded the prestigious
PREMIO EVOE 2000 (excellence in journalism) at the BAVI event in Torgiano, Italy and other
similar awards. He is also a frequent judge for wine and culinary events. Ong was also invited to
the BAVI held in Torgiano Italy in 2001 and in 2004, the international wine competition held
during Vinitaly in Verona, Italy.

A self-confessed foodie and equipped with a diploma in Mass Communication, Zuhara Yusoff also
has a Diploma in Pastry & Baking from Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC)
and she has cleverly combined her passion for writing and love for wine. Being the ever adventurous
one, she believes that it is important to experience different things in life because “variety is the spice
of life”.
