It was truly a memorable trip and a treat to experience in this life-long career. To fly halfway across the world and meet like-minded people, with the same passion for food yet drawn from different cultures and sources of inspiration, I can only imagine the possibilities for our food scene in the future will be limitless. My biggest takeaway from this stint would be the livened spirit and camaraderie held strong within the team of cooks and chefs, regardless of seniority and level of experience, they work hard together, and also take time to play hard during the two days the restaurant is closed. This adheres to the importance of a work life balance, something short of a rarity in the Asian culture. It then hit home how despite being in the same industry and seeking the same purpose, we couldn’t be more different in the other aspects of our lives, and we have everything to gain by learning from them.
 
Overall, this is a fantastic program helmed by World Gourmet Summit to help local chefs like myself broaden our horizons and get a peek of what the world outside our little bubble is like, and learn from the best in the industry.
