Description
Chef Pinaki is the Executive Chef at Yantra helming the kitchen of this fine dining Indian cuisine restaurant in Singapore.
Hailing from Calcutta, India, Pinaki brings with him over 30 years of valuable experience in the F&B industry, having come a long way since he started out at the Taj Hotel Group in 1993. He first came to Singapore in 2003 to work in the Tiffin Room and the signature Doc Cheng’s restaurant for Raffles Hotel Singapore. This gave him the opportunity to work alongside Michelin-star Chef Alan Passard and Chef Eyvind Helstrom.
Chef Pinaki left Singapore’s shores in 2007 to work in Sun City, South Africa as a resort chef for Asian cuisine and came back in 2009 to work in The Fullerton Hotel and the opening for The Fullerton Bay Hotel. He joined the Singapore Marriott Hotel as Sous Chef in 2010. After 5 years there Pinaki joined Marina Bay Sands hotel under his old chef Nicola Van Heemsbergen as Chef De cuisine of Rise, the massive all-day dining restaurant. Under the watchful eyes of the late Chef Christopher Christie, he honed his skills further and then joined The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach as the Executive Sous Chef. Two years later after functioning as the interim Executive Chef for 9 months, he decided to answer his calling to his own cuisine.
At Yantra, he tries to bring back those memories in the form of long lost traditional recipes using modern techniques and sustainable produce.
