As Manager & Sommelier at Arbora Hilltop dining and Dusk Restaurant & Bar, Mohamed Yazid is responsible for curating the wine list and cocktail menu. A veteran with over 26 years of experience in the restaurant business, his achievements were marked by numerous awards and accolades, including a distinct honour of being sommelier to the late Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew on his 90th Birthday celebration at Faber Peak. Mohamed Yazid had been registered with the Sommelier Association of Singapore since 2011.
Before his current appointment, Mohamed Yazid was the Team Manager at Furama Riverfront Hotel, where he led the team to Gold awards in the National Restaurant Skill Competition and Amazing Waiter Race in 2011 & 2012. His notable achievements include:
• Being appointed a Member of Louis Canas Sommelier, Rioja Spain 2017
• Completing the France Sommelier Master Class in 2015 in South France, Marrenon, Vignobles en Luberon et Ventoux Winery
• Winning Gold Award at Food Hotel Asia 2012 Singapore
• Emerging one of the Top 5 Finalists at the 2011 Singapore Sommelier Challenge
Mohamed Yazid received training from Hong Kong’s top molecular mixologist Antonio Lai, when he was attending the John Whyte Course, Elite Bartender by International Bartender Association in 2011 as a Singapore representative in a competition. This apprenticeship endowed Mohamed to express his creativity with a menu of luscious concoctions that uses a special Nitro-Frosting technique.
During his leisure time in early start of 2020, Mohamed Yazid make time for his studies in upgrading his education and go on vacations to Europe, Australia, NZ and Asian countries, where he continues his journey of wine education through exploring new varietals and vintages. Recently in January 2021, he had just received his Degree Honours in International Hospitality Management & Tourism by Northumbria University, United Kingdom under One Faber Group scholarship program.
