WORLD GOURMET A W ARDS 2022
A Message From The Founder
elcome to the 22nd anniversary of the World Gourmet
Summit Awards presentation, and the 26th edition of the
World Gourmet Summit. The work of the F&B and hospitality
W communities has, as ways, been the reason why Singapore
is still touted as a gourmet paradise across the international stage.
Our theme for this year is Equilibrium, which is something I feel
many of us seek in our lives. As Hippocrates once said; “Let food
be your medicine and medicine be your food”. It’s an aspiration that
has helped to fuel much of the passion for food in Singapore. And
we can easily see the celebration of this happening all around: with
the relaxing of regulations in Food & Beverage establishments, more
people are coming back outside to celebrate special occasions, to dine
outside, and to gather with loved ones. We’re looking at the light at
the end of the tunnel and everyone has done well to survive this long.
I feel the World Gourmet Summit, and by extension, the World
Gourmet Awards, emphasizes so much on why it is important to
celebrate not just the people within our industries, but also the
multiple milestones that we have all gone through, in all sectors of the
industry. We recognise not just restaurants and hotels who are doing
a good job, but also individuals who have gone above and beyond
in their line of work. What defines a great gastronomic experience
no longer relies solely on the food the chefs make. It relies on the
people who make up the teams to bring that experience to others.
I would like to thank all our partners that have helped us through these
times, like Turkish Airlines, USA Cheese Guild, Q Industries, Welbilt
and Fabristeel, just to mention a few, as well as the Singapore Tourism
Board, for the support that you have given us throughout the years. It
is this support that has made us a recognised brand in the community.
