Top Wines Sommelier of the Year FinalistAlessandro Calabro, Garibaldi Group of Restaurants A qualified sommelier by training, Alessandro Calabro attained the coveted qualification as a sommelier at the Gastronomisk Institute, University of Stavanger in Norway in 2005. Also a member of the DNVF, the Norwegian Sommelier Association, Calabro’s official qualification as a sommelier came not just from his time spent at the Gastronomisk Institute but through many years spent as a bartender, bar manager, maitre d’, restaurant manager, F&B manager and chef. This intimate understanding of all aspects of restaurant operations and how wine compliments fine cuisine allows Calabro to effectively carry out the role of sommelier for the Garibaldi Group of Restaurants while concurrently serving as group operations manager and restaurant manager for Gunther’s and Garibaldi Italian Restaurant & Bar. |
